A former Minister of State for Defence,  Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro has challenged youths in Nigeria to engage in acts, programmes and campaigns that will change the narrative in the political landscape of the country.

Obanikoro stated this recently, while addressing a group of youths between the ages of 18 and 35 years in a mentorship programme at his office in Ikeja, Lagos.

The programme titled 'M.O Mentors Youths' is designed to train, mobilize and organize youths of Lagos State and by extension, Nigeria, on participation in governance; innovations and motivation;  redirecting youths' focus;  building a better society; and instilling virtues in youths, among others.

The former High Commissioner to Ghana stated that his generation owes it a duty to mentor the youths, provide a healthy platform for their development, and redirect their focus.

He lamented the derth in creative thinking amongst the youths adding that the society will not develop when everyone puts all their challenges at the doorsteps of those occupying positions in government.

Obanikoro expressed his commitment towards  continuous building and investing in the youths who are expected to take the bull by the horns by getting not only interested in , but also involved in politics in order to take their destinies into their own hands.

The social media, he said should be a virile and viable platform for Nigerian youths to organize and coordinate themselves into major actors and players as they are in the majority.

The programme was attended by youth representatives across Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
