IJEBU ODE LG TO ESTABLISH OIL-PALM PLANTATION

Ijebu Ode Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria, is to establish an oil-palm plantation to boost its internally generated revenue, and also empower some of her youths, who are desirous of taking into agri-business.

The Executive Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Babatunde EMILOLA-GAZAL, made this known while speaking during the presentation of relief materials by the National Emergency Management Agency, to farmers, who were victims of 2020 flood disasters in the local government..

The Chairman who described Agriculture as one of his administration's priority, said twenty five hectares of land had already been secured at the Isiwo district, for the proposed plantation.



He enjoined the beneficiaries, to ensure a judicious and prudent use of materials presented to them, as he appealed to fish farmers whose fish farms were ravaged by flood this year to exercise patience, as it will definitely get to their turn, and that whenever it comes, it will be blessed by Allah.

The council boss then thanked the Federal Government and National Emergency Management Agency for the succour provided to the farmers, as it commended the FG's effort at making the country becomes self-sustaining in food production, particularly in rice cultivation and livestock farming.

Items distributed includes fertilizer, maize, rice seedlings, knapsack sprayer, and water pumping machine.

NEMA's Team-lead, Mr. Olanrewaju KAZEEM, led other officials of the agency to the event held at the Millennium Hall of the council secretariat, Itoro, Ijebu Ode, on Wednesday.
