Ogun Youth Council lectures youth leaders on lassa fever, coronavirus, others

The leadership of Ogun State Youth Council organized a lecture on Thursday 30th of January, 2020, to sensitize the Youth Leaders of all Local Government and organizations in Ogun state on the alarming diseases causing fears in the society.

Delivering a lecture on Lassa fever and Coronavirus, the State Secretary for the youth wing of the Nigerian Red Cross, Miss Esther Jacobs, educated the youth stakeholders on the common signs of these diseases. “The dangers of rat infiltration have gone beyond what can be further ignored. No act of negligence, no matter how little, can be less costly to the consequence of being infected with Lassa fever,” she said.

“Do not leave access for foods to be contacted by rats, dispose wastes properly, do not touch rats with bear hands, and above all cultivate the habit of washing our hands frequently,” Jacobs pleaded.

The lecturer also educated the Youth leaders on the coronavirus outbreak in China stating the common signs of infections to include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, breathing difficulties among others. There was also a little talk on cancer awareness in commemoration of the forthcoming World Cancer Day. The lecture ended with an interactive session where members of the audience were also enlightened on other areas of concern with a directive to share the knowledge gained with people of their local governments.
