Ashiru's media aide reacts to Prestige Newspaper on Commissionership tussle - The New Dawn Online News

Otunba Bimbo Ashiru

Governor Abiodun had on Wednesday sent 18 nominees to the Ogun State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation.

Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ogun State, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has distanced himself from the ongoing agitation in some quarters over his omission from the Commissioner's nominees released by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Ashiru's media aide, Adedapo David who spoke on behalf of the former commissioner to distance his Principal from the ongoing agitation over the Commissioner's list sent to OGHA.

His statement reads below;

"My attention has just been drawn to an online publication titled "Ogun Guns who failed to make Dapo Abiodun's Cabinet list".

It is an affront to the person of Otunba Bimbo Ashiru to have been named amongst those who jostle to become Commissioners in the gateway state haven served creditably well in the last administration for 8 years as the longest serving Commissioner in his then ministry, with laudable and unprecedented achievements in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

It must also be reiterated that at no point did Otunba Bimbo Ashiru lobbied to secure the seat of the Secretary to the State Government as contained in the watery and lazy media guess.

As an Aspirant for the Gubernatorial seat in the All Progressive Congress Party, Otunba Ashiru Bimbo has only remained a staunch stakeholder of the Party whose hand is full with the responsibilities of his second address. Succinctly, is Ashiru the only one in the State, when there are other able and competent hands as well who should be given the opportunity to serve?

Hence, I admonish that a thorough investigative freelance journalism should be the bedrock of any online media rather than a beer parlour guess work as contained in the release".
