Man, 75, Burnt To Death In Osogbo Inferno

Disaster struck Thursday at Isale-Aro area of Osogbo, in Osun State, when a fire burnt to death a 75-year old man, Lamina Ishola.

Residents raised the alarm when they noticed thick flame oozing from a room in the mud house, where Ishola was sleeping.

It was gathered that some residents made frantic effort to put out the fire before the men of the Osun State Fire Service arrived the scene to complement their efforts.

But Ishola, said to be a father of two was unlucky, as the raging fire had burned him to death before help came his way.

When The Guardian visited the bereaved family, Ishola’s 71-year-old younger brother Ademola Oseni, said a locally made lantern that uses kerosene caused the fire.

Oseni said someone had bought the lantern for Ishola after Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) officials disconnected electricity supply to his house when he could not pay electricity bills.
