Workers’ Day: ANACOWA Chairman felicitates with Ogun Workers, TUC, ASUSS, TOAN, PERESSA, SSASCGOC, others

Umbrella body of Nigerian Okada Operators, Ogun state Chapter, the ANACOWA Motorcycle Owners And Riders Association Of Nigeria, Ogun state Chapter, has felicitated with Ogun workers, Trade Union Congress (TUC) on the occasion of the 2019 Workers' Day celebration. ANACOWA is one of the many Trade Unions affiliate of TUC.

The Union also felicitated with Ogun state chapters of Academic Staff Union of Secondary School (ASUSS, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Union of Tippers Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporation and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Precision Electrical And Related Equipment Senior Staff Association (PERESSA), Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Senior Staff Association of Universities' Teaching Hospitals Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), others, with a pledge to work with them harmoniously and create peaceful coexistence.

In a goodwill message to the Unions, the state chairman, Comrade Prince Azeez Rasheed, in a statement issued to the media through the Union State Director of Media And Publicity, Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo, charges Okada Operators on good conduct and pledge to prioritise their welfare.


The chairman also vows to create empowerment scheme for women and youths to compliment government empowerment programmes in the state. 

He said: "the government cannot do everything for the people, we should encourage private bodies, individual philanthropists and organizations to create an empowerment scheme for the citizens, most especially for the women and youths by complimenting the state government empowerment programmes".

Prince Azeez Rasheed, who said “we'll develop and support comprehensive programs to help raise awareness about key women issues, create blended learning programs that help educate women in the state and expose talented women to help motivate others. Our scheme will also help young people in the state to be better prepared for their future by developing them in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and 21st century skills".

He stressed further, "We need to reshape and restructure our system from the old ways of wastage of IGR of the union on frivolous and needless extravagances. We're in 21st century where things are changing. Our impacts should be felt by the society. Invest in small businesses owned by women all over the world, small business owners are challenged with raising capital.

"ANACOWA will support hardworking women entrepreneur in the state by way of advancing grants or a small loan. It can make a big difference," he added.
